Now potable

Now potable

A long day of travel is leaving me a bit bleary eyed. I looked at the Perrier bottle in front of me and thought is said, “Now potable!” --possibly referring to the time when the drink was off the market due to its benzene content.

When I looked again I saw that the word was actually, “portable.” What does that mean anyway? Was the previous packaging too heavy to carry?
