Taking the fall
Taking the fallThree heads rolled at AOL as a result of the search data that was released a couple of weeks back. The information was released intentionally to assist in research on web searching. The information was though to be de-identified, but users enter so much personal information in the course of searching the web that their identities are relatively easy to unearth. (See my previous post.)AOL's Chief Technology Officer resigned, and the manager and researcher directly involved with the project were dismissed. They should be able to get jobs at Google if they want.
